Personalization
Tewa is a very special pony.
The Tewa native is known for his pottery and painting. He's also a tribal policeman! This horse is covered with Indian symbols. This New Mexican Tewa horse combines traditional Pueblo symbolism with contemporary geometric design.
The horse is black and white, with dark green, purple, red, yellow and blue touches. His sash symbolizing good fortune is fringed in real white leather. The patterned blanket on his back honors the horse as a bold and strong being. The eagle feather designs on Tewa's legs represent prosperity, and three real white feathers adorn his neck. The hands stroking his face and flanks stand for the loving hand of all creation.
Tewa Horse stands on a white platform with a gray and brown geometric design on the edge. Made of resin. Artist: Tom Tapia is known for his pottery and is a Tewa native. Sponsor: the New Mexican Newspaper.
Tewa Horse was introduced by the Trail of Painted Ponies in Winter 2004. Five years later it was retired July 2009. The number on the last Tewa Horse was #8E/4919 - which means that 84,919 of these beautiful ponies were made.
