Ghost is a spectacular pony created by Mohican artist, Bill Miller. It is gorgeous!

The artist is a Native American musician who turned his creative talent to a canvas of a life-size horse. He said the experience of painting in a studio surrounded with other beautifully painted ponies was a surreal and spiritual experience. The head of this pony is very intricate in its design. You can find this pony on page 16 of the Painted Pony book. Ghost Horse is a spiritual memorial to the massacre at Wounded Knee.

The words to the artist's song, "Ghost Dance," are written on the sides of the horse. It's amazing that ALL of the words are on the pony and that you can actually read them.

The pony is painted in beautiful shades of ochre, gold, and russet. On one side of Ghost Horse a Mohican warrior gazes into the distance poised for battle, above him a soaring black eagle. Stylized red, blue and white stars and moons, raised to the touch, are scattered across the dark golden-orange flanks of the horse. On the other side are Native American symbols of life and hope. There is a white, blue red and yellow color wheel, together with a smaller black eagle and a red hand of peace. The pony's dark brown face is patterned with a tiny galaxy, and a chain of stars and feathers adorns his neck. Many wishes are written on the flanks of Ghost Horse: to be where the deaf can hear, and the blind can see. Sponsor: the El Centro Mall. We have ONE left!

Ghost Horse was introduced by Trail of Painted Ponies in 2004. Ghost remained in the line for 4 years until January 2008 when it was retired. The last Ghost figurine produced was marked #6E/3894. That means there were 63,894 Ghost ponies made.
