From the Trail of Painted Ponies: "Carved in History"
Artist: Chad Brady
It's a beautiful leather tooled saddle! No, it's a pony. It is a pony that IS a leather tooled saddle!
It’s a Western tradition for American cowboys to ride saddles that are decorated with elegant, delicately carved floral and geometric patterns, and in some cases embroidered with gold and silver ornaments. With this in mind, artist and craftsman Chad Brady, whose uncle has been a cobbler for over 30 years making fancy chaps for rodeo cowboys, keeps the spirit alive with a Painted Pony he has beautifully tooled with floral, oak leaf and acorn patterns.
The mane, tail and feet all are silver. The mane and tail have small flowers with shiny rhinestone like centers. Even though the tooled design completely covers the horse, each side is different. The chest of the pony has a single heart imprint - the only heart on the pony. When you enlarge the smaller photo, you can see the heart.
