The Witch Doctor is an integral part of Native American culture. Also known as a Medicine Man or Shamus, the Witch Doctor has a spiritual and a political influence in the tribe. In the 19th Century cures of Native American Witch Doctors had even made it to Europe and the common people there.

This hand painted resin Witch Doctor figurine is extremely detailed and colorful. The Indian wears a wolf skin 'cape,' with the wolf's head still attached to cover his head of dark flowing hair. His face is painted with shades of red and his neck is adorned with a medallion, a blue beaded and animal teeth necklace and a lay of grass.

The Witch Doctor holds one arm up, open palmed hand reaching towards the sky, and with the other hand he holds a black and white striped shield detailed with red and white feathers and the painting of a black bird. His rawhide boots have tiny bead decoration. Additional beads are used for bands on their legs or arms. A band of bells wraps each calf as he lifts one leg up from the grass and stone ground beneath him in a ceremonial dance. Made of resin. 7-3/4"H
