USPS
Due to problems we've had with shipping USPS, we recommend not using it.
If an item is shown as IN STOCK we will automatically ship via USPS
(United States Post Office) to Alaska and
Hawaii.
We realize that shipping USPS to these locations is normally cheaper than FEDEX. The Cart will charge you the FEDEX shipping cost. Once
your package is shipped, we will credit you the difference in shipping cost. If an item is SPECIAL ORDER, it will be shipped via either FedEx or UPS.
If an item is IN STOCK, we ship USPS to Post Office boxes. If an item is SPECIAL ORDER, you must provide a physical address for us to ship to, no USPS.
We do NOT ship USPS to any other
destination. We have compared prices and FEDEX is cheaper than either USPS or
UPS on an overall basis. We need tracking info and automatic emails with
tracking info for customers with tracking.
APO
All APO shipments are made via USPS and may take up to 48 hours.
TRIVIA
FEDEX GROUND and FEDEX EXPRESS are
essentially two companies. They have different trucks, different drivers and
different terminals. Once a package has been shipped it can not be switched
from Ground to Express.
GROUND
The Ground trucks are typically
owned by the driver. He/she is paid by the number of packages delivered in a
day. If the driver delivers 100 packages in 5 hours or 100 packages in 8 hours,
he/she makes the same amount of money. As a comparison, the UPS driver is paid
by the hours worked. The UPS driver will be paid for 8 hours whether they
deliver 50 or 100 packages. They have very different compensations. UPS owns
their trucks - drivers do not.
The FEDEX Ground situation is
further complicated in that they have trucks that deliver only to residential
neighborhoods. HOME DELIVERY is written on the sides of these trucks. FEDEX
Ground have different trucks that deliver to
commercial addresses.
You need to select the correct
method: Ground or Ground Home Delivery for fastest delivery. If you select the
wrong option and shipping is more than that calculated in the Shopping Cart, we
will automatically charge you for the difference. Example: you selected Ground.
Correct selection was Ground Home Delivery.
EXPRESS
The EXPRESS trucks are owned by
FEDEX. However, the drivers are paid by number of packages delivered. That's
why they are always in a hurry.
So, if you wonder why one driver
will spend time chatting and one driver is in and out - you now know "the rest
of the story."
MINIMUM SHIPPING cost is $8 per shipment.
