| This T'ang Horse Sculpture is finished in Ming clay, a material whose use refers to the fine art of Chinese ceramics that developed during the dynastic periods.
This T'ang Horse Sculpture is a Carolyn Kinder design and depicts a horse during the T'ang Dynasty in China, a period of progress and stability, a high point in Chinese civilization. It was during this period that the Silk Road reopened and connected China directly to the West for land based trade. Tang horses are often represented with a rope with medallions strung around the neck or along the back, and with a short upward pointed groomed tail.
This horse turns its head downward and to the side, the mane is groomed and short and lines the back of the neck, while a blanket drapes down, past the body of the horse and grazing its hind legs. All four hooves are planted on the resin black base. Dimensions: 20"H x 17"L x 7"W |
